divided from

In our company, the Export department was divided from the International department.

Is this correct?

The function of exporting used to be part of the Internatinal department, but now they are stand-alone departments.

Thanks.

"separated from" or "created from" are better. Use "separated from" if the two groups were distinct entities prior to the division. The Export function became so large that it was separated from the International Department.
