Divided according to part (parts?)
Hi all,
Could you please help me with this sentence?
The full versions (of web addresses) cited in the list of sources are divided according to part (PARTS?) of the thesis in which they were used. I find it more lucid for the reader.
I´m not sure about the articles and using part X parts.
Hope it´s clear. There are two parts in my thesis and I divided the list of sources according to these two parts.

IMO it would be more natural to use the singular, but with the article: "are divided according to the part(s) of the thesis in which they were used." Plural may be more correct, but use the article in either case.

I'm not sure I understand what's going on, but I don't see how a web address can be divided-- then you'd have nothing useful. Perhaps you mean that the addresses will be sorted into different sections, or something similar? I also don't think you can presume the lucidity for the reader.

Can I assume we typically think of "to cite" as a completed action rather than "are + past participle"?
I'm struggling to decide if there's a difference here between "to cite" and "to list" in this respect. That is, do we think of the action, "were listed" or the quality, "are listed"?

It's a little late for me, too, Avangi. If I take your meaning, I would suggest that more germane is the nature of the writing. Here it is an academic thesis, where actions are minimal and conditions adhere.

Just an idea - what about I think that this will be more helpful for the reader´s orientation.
