Hello, Can I use "call away" instead of "divert" in this sentence: "In case of emergency, staff will be diverted from less urgent tasks to help." This is not a self-made sentence. I found it in Macmillan Dictionary. Is the use of "call away" in such context considered unnatural?
Thank you

It's not unnatural, just less formal and less precise.

This is probably a silly question, but what do you mean by "less precise"?:) They both mean "stop doing something in order to do something else that is probably more important).
"Divert" is used for allocating resources (like employees' time). "Call away" has more meanings, it could mean resources, or an emergency, or for a personal conversation, etc.
