Distruct my mind

Hello,

Are my sentence natural to native ears? Do you say so?

Reading a book is a good way to distruct my mind from unpleasent things. For example, whenever I have had a bad day at work, I've try to get over it by reading a book. Soon, after one hour reading a book, I feel at ease and less tense.

Thank you in advance.
