distribute "you" or "to you"?

Hello,
a teacher speaking to his students. Which is correct: "I will distribute you the papers." or ""I will distribute to you the papers."?

I wouldn't discard "I will distribute to you the papers" as grammatically incorrect, but "I will distribute the papers to you" is the preferred word order in this case. The direct object of "distribute" ("the papers") is relatively short, so it's much better to put it right after the verb.
