Distilled water

Distilled water that is sold in markets is water that has been boiled?

Top answer

It has gone through the process of distillation, which includes vaporizing and condensing (which means it was boiled, the vapor captured, and then condensed). There might also be other processes to remove certain minerals, and other minerals might be added for taste. It depends on the source water and what is in it what exact total process is used for distillation, but boiling is always part of it.

Thank you, but if distillation is merely 'capturing' the vapor then why do you need to use the word 'condensed' instead of simply using 'captured', 'condensed' to me sounds like the water is 'constricted'!

Condensed is the term used to describe what happens when water vapor liquifies and becomes water again. When water is boiled, it converts to water vapor. If the water vapor is cooled, it condenses and becomes liquid again. If you freeze water, it becomes ice.

In the distillation process, the water vapor is captured (so that it doesn't disperse into the ambiant air) and then cooled to
