distant vs distance

0 Hi guys. I'm writing a poem and seem to be stuck on one line. Due to the rhyme, I have to end with the word "clear" and don't know which is correct. Here is the line: ... like a mirage in the distance clear OR ... like a mirage in the distant clear. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. 0-
