1. On top of that, if we rely on a single source for our news, we are likely to be misinformed about a certain situation.

2. On top of that, relying on more resources enables one to gain more reliable information.

3. Relying only on one source of news can cause one to gain misleading information.

#2 and #3 are paraphrased.

Of course paraphrasing will depend on context; if we think generally, which is better considering the distance between the subject and main verb. #2 and #3 the distance is farther compared to #1.

You mean the distance between the subject and verb is not a big deal?; for example, #2 is just OK because it rephrases #1 quite well?

By mistake, I didn't put 'on top of that' in #3.
