dispose (of)



At 0:40, the video says:
...and the AirBag fits your lifestyle in a number of ways -- as a grocery carrying device, a cat home, a Hallows' Eve mask, a bag hutch, and a receptacle for disposing your obsolete Apple products.

Here, I think the verb 'dispose' means 'throw away'. Then, should't there be 'of' right after the verb as in '...disposing of your obsolete Apple products'?

I do not know whether it is a common error among native speakers, but it is definitely a common error among non-natives.

Is it possible that the 'dispose' here does not mean 'throw away' but 'arrange' in this context, hence not needing 'of'?
