Displayed in the name of ‘Sensation’

Does "had Myra not been displayed in the name of ‘Sensation’" mean "if Myra had not been created in order to affect the sensations of people (if it had not been a sensationalist work of art)"?

Context:
The criticisms of Myra (painting by Marcus Harvey) mirrored the media criticisms made against Benetton’s AIDS advertisement (in both cases concentrating on the attention-seeking exploitation of real-life tragedies for sensationalist purposes). However, had Myra not been displayed in the name of ‘Sensation’ and had the relatives been consulted, the work might well have escaped the censure it received.
