Disengage or detach

Hi,

Let’s say that I’m in a group interview and I’ve already done my part, so now I’m waiting for the committee to deal with the other candidates. I stop paying attention and get lost in my thoughts because I know that it no longer concerns me.

Could I use ‘disengage’ or ‘detach’?

“I know that I probably shouldn’t have done it, but I completely detached/disengaged myself from the interview the moment I knew they moved on to the other candidates.”

It’s just a hypothetical situation.

Thank you.

Of those two, "disengaged" seems the better choice to me. e. omitting the word "myself").

Of those two, "disengaged" seems the better choice to me. Personally, I think I would say "I completely disengaged from the interview" (i.e. omitting the word "myself").

It should be "the moment I knew they had moved on".
