disembodied technology?

Hi!
Could you help translate into French this phrase, "disembodied technology"?
I know it means smth like buying/selling the technology of a product, but not the product itself. But I couldn't find anywhere a decent correspondent in any foreign language!

Hi, I don't know the French term, but when I worked in computers we used to call this 'vapour-ware' . (eg it was like 'smoke'). Clive

Hi,
I don't know the French term, but when I worked in computers we used to call this 'vapour-ware'. (eg it was like 'smoke').
