Discussed

Hello,

"perhaps it's time we discussed it openly"

Why in this word there's an "ed"? It's present not past, isn't it?

Thanks.

Anonymous It's present not past, isn't it? Yes. The meaning is as if the present were used, but the past tense -- technically, it's a subjunctive tense -- is often used after "it's time" and after "wish" even when present time is meant.
