Discuss both views

Judging which is the best way leading to a brilliant success in life is a difficult task. According to some people, nothing can be better than attending tertiary education. Others, however, insist that those who make a difference in the society through their contributions are likely to get a job immediately after school. From my point of view, both are possible to be the shortest road to an excellent career in their own right and therefore, each person should widely define the more appropriate way for their life.

On the one hand, it is not hard to comprehend the integral role of a university degree in pursuing a dream vocation. Higher education may not be the only way of being successful, however, it is a necessity for ones who decide to enter various specialist fields such as laws, scientific researching and engineering, etc. The main reason is that these areas require high quality human resources that it is impossible to be trained under no tertiary school. For example, medicine and nursing cannot be practiced without a particular vocational degree since some vital skills may only be gained by studying in university’s campus. Another motive for one going to college is the specialist knowledge they receive after graduating, which makes their CVs become precious and stand out from others’. Particularly, from a popular employer’s perspective, graduate students have the edge over some people who only complete high school. It means that having a university degree may lower the unemployment rate and provide higher potential earnings. Lastly, joining higher education, especially international courses, students are likely to meet a wide range of people from all over the world. This may lead to the opportunity to create a larger social network with future co-workers and employers, which will be beneficial to their career.

However, on the other hand, it is undeniable that for some people, the benefits of landing a job right after finishing high school are so outweighed that they decide to not acquire colleges. The first reason is that working in an ideal environment could help people gain a lot of money immediately. For ones with poor financial background, the cost of tertiary education is unaffordable. Therefore, they tend to work harder and more productively in order to be independent and to earn a living sooner. Thus, this may lead to a more successful career. Another reason causing the success without having any degree is that, for some special human-beings with excellent self-studying ability, universities usually do not meet their demand. By skipping schools, students could get experience faster, which brings them more revenue. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, who are billionaires in the computer science field, are two prime examples. Although they were both accepted by the most selective universities in the USA, they decided to drop out and after that, they started out with their revolutionary technological ideas. In short, reality might teach a person more than a college does, so pursuing higher education is not always the best choice.

To conclude, I argue that each point of view provides different opportunities or conditions. It depends on an individual to decide whether to be expertise in some specialist areas like doctors and engineers or work without no qualification.
