How would you phrase the sentence?
He hired a woman so people wouldn't think he was discriminating against based on gender in his line of work.

Is adding 'in his line of work' natural?

In the dictionary I wasn't able to find 'discriminate against gender' I was only able to find 'discriminate against because of gender'

He hired a woman so people wouldn't think he was discriminating based on gender in his line of work.
