Discretionary Viewer Participation

"The following wrestling exhibition requires discretionary viewer participation."

What does this mean?

Thanks.

I understand "viewer participation" to mean that people viewing the exhibition participate in some kind of wrestling-related physical activity. I do not understand the combination of "requires" and "discretionary". "requires" implies that participation is obligatory, but "discretionary" means that it is not.

I'm equally puzzled, but I think "discretionary" can have two meanings here.
You may exercise your discretion in deciding whether or not to participate.

And having decided to participate, you may exercise discretion in other ways while participating.
In my opinion, both could be described as "discretionary participation."

We need some background.
