01font00This monograph is concerned with the analysis and description of five grammatical structures against the background of their use in written texts. The constructions referred to are placed in two different functional categories -- focussing 01i00it02i00 (01i00it02i00 clefts) and 01i00wh02i00-sentences (01i00wh02i00-clefts), and defocussing syntagms, i.e. inversion, 01i00there02i00 sentences and extrapositional 01i00it02i00 sentences.
