Disclaimer notice

Hello,

I have a problem with a disclaimer notice. I don't know which form I should use.
Can you please tell me which one is better? Should it be "spelling of" or "spelling for"?

The text retains the (native) spelling of the author.
or
The text keeps American spelling for its American author.

Thank you

#1 sounds better (without 'native'). What do you mean by 'reproduced text'? eg Did you copy it?

Thank you for your answer. I've just edited my post and removed "reproduced". In my paper I used fragments of someone else's text which uses AmE spelling.

You might consider saying 'the quoted text'.
