We can see more disasters and violence shown on TV. What are its causes and what effects will they exert on the individual and the society?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own experience or knowledge.
There is, in recent decades, no disputing fact that the outstanding innovation of media technology renders various unexpected benefits of both updating current news and meeting the entertain demands of citizens. From my viewpoint, the chain of television programs these days, notwithstanding, is produced in a non-selective way and is filled with violence and suffering, which renders detrimental effects to society in general as individuals consciousness in particular.
Being able to afford tons of fees, many television channels find the way of increasing their TRP (television rating point), which gets more omnipresent adverts and hence more revenue. Furthermore, media organizations tend to put various violent scenes to increase thrilling experiences as well as viewers for their channel. With the enormous following, these media products either easily gain popularity in society or even shape the recreational tendency of people. This, consequently, profoundly influent both to media orientation in the future and the humanity broadcasters want to convey.
Those gluing their eyes day by day to the screen about pieces of stuff such as explosions, suicide bombings, and war casualties and so on would be in a state of aggression and anxiety, particularly children and adolescents. They by themselves couldn't differentiate between what is real and what is virtual, thus tend to emulate or copy what they're observing. Take comic as an example, heroes justifiably using violence as a means to resolve conflict is the ideal symbol of the juvenile, they’re impacted by these illustrations and tend to use aggressive strategies to solve their problem. Watching hour after hour of violence, besides that, increase the likelihood that a child will see the world as a dark and unsafe place, which causes early personality disorder in children.
In conclusion, TV is the both-edged sword, it can be a great source for education and relaxation if properly and prudently watched, but a harmful factor for those choosing negative programs.
