Disappears into the role of

Hi. I'm writing a script about an actor moonlighting as serial killer.

He stops moving and raises his hands. He then slowly turns around, and as he does Emotion: football he disappears into the role of scared homeless man.

1) Do I need "so"? And should there be a comma after it?

2) Is "disappears" natural here?
