Vocabulary

Disappear / Vanish

Is there any diference between disappear and vanish?

In their meaning I don't think so, but what about the use in the everyday english?

I am asking that because I've only seem vanish in two songs ('Moulin Rouge - I want to vanish inside your kiss') and ('Streets of Phuladelphia').

'Disappear' is no doubt more common than 'vanish'. To me, 'vanish' has the feeling of 'disappear rather suddenly and dramatically'.
