Disambiguation with preposition around

We spent the five nights around new years eve at Koh Samui.

Can we interpret this to mean either we spend five nights at Koh Samui at new years OR we spent 2 nights at Koh Samui, then we went somewhere else before going back to Koh Samui for two last nights.
