Disadvanatage and advantages essay vs argumentative

Hi,

What's the difference between a disadvantages and advantages essay and an argumentative essay? They both look at the pros and cons.

If one says ''In this essay I am going to look at the arguments for and against...'',does this not mean that one is going to look at the advantages or disadvantages?

An what aboutpros and cons? Can pros and consbe use instead of arguments for and against?

CAN THE THE ABOVE EXPRESSIONS ''PROS,ADVANTAGES,ARGUMENTS FOR,...'' BE USED INTERCHANGEABLY

thanks

To me, they have a different purpose. In an argumentative essay, like a debate, you take a position on one side and argue for it. You try to convince your readers to agree with you.
