Director general for/of Development

Which of the two prepositions above would be the most appropriate in this job title?, with Development being a large department or directorate in an important state institution.

There are other two or three directors general: Director General of Education, Director General of Policies, etc.
I think the preposition of is fine, but is it preferable to for or why not simply using for instead of of?
Thank you

If there are other similar titles already using 'of', then use 'of'. Otherwise, there is no reason to prefer one preposition over the other.
