Directions Essay
For English class I have to write a dirrections essay.
How specific should they be.
Should I be so specific as to say "Take your right hand, and move it toward the handle(I am just making this up
), and close your fingurs around the knob. While still graspng the knob, rotate left....... ETC." or should I say, "With your right hand, grasp, and turn the knob counterclockwise." Basically, should i use a general verb, or should I talk about every tiny little movement.
Another example, should i say "pour the liqued," or should I say take the container, move it over the cup, tilt it, and bla bla bla bla..."

You should give only enough details that would allow the target audience to do the task. If you are giving directions to children, your directions should be more detailed then if you are giving directions to adults. In most cases, "With your right hand, grasp, and turn the **** counterclockwise" would be quite sufficient, certainly to be preferred to your longer version.
