Directions?

Hello Teachers,

How do we write directions?

His place was located on the south side of the beach.

Or southern side or any other way to write it (using 'located')?

Thanks.

"South side" sounds strange. Beaches have a landward side and a seaward side. A beach can have a south end or southern end, and either one sounds natural.
