Consider that the result of lottery in which john participated is to come on 24th.
22nd John to James- 'If I won the lottery I would travel around the globe'.
23rd James to Mike - 1. John told me that if he won the lottery he would travel around the globe.
2. John told me that if he had won the lottery he would have traveled around the globe.
The first sentence makes more sense to me as the result of lottery is yet to come but according to rules second is also possible . Which is more correct?
