Direct to Reported speech

I'm studiyng this right now. Please help me to convert those sentences from Direct to Reported speech with bit of explanation maybe? Thank you!

"How long have you been working for our branch in London?" she has asked.
The interviewer has asked me how long .................... for their branch in London.

"Life is getting so sad," she murmured.
She murmured that life ............................ so sad.
-------------

"I have always been honest with you," he insisted.
He insisted that ....................... always honest with me.
-------------

"I have been speaking with Jane since he left," she admitted.
She admitted that ............................... with Jane since ........................

"How are you feeling after the operation?" the doctor asked me.
My doctor wanted to know ..................................... after the operation.

The first example, for me is a little odd, I find it strange that it has 'she has asked' after the quoted speech all the others are in the simple past tense. Could you check it please? It is difficult to imagine this being used (not impossible).

For the others you need to look at the tense of the verb. In reported speech we do not repeat the direct speech that we heard. In particul

LouiseTIn the UK and the USA ‘Jane’ is a feminine name so again the original is a little strange to me as it uses 'he'.
I read the sentence as "I have been speaking with Jane since he (someone else, not Jane) left...". But I'd have to agree about the position of "always" in the third sentence.
