Direct speech

Hey,
I'm wondering when you start to write in direct speech and you havn't finished the sentence of do you then put a comma or something before you go to write direct speech?
E.g
In confusion I glance at the aged steel frame-work, which surrounds me. I see others possibly still alive

“Hello, can you hear me?” no one replies.

Do I put anything after the word (Alive) or leave it as it is?
