direct quotation?

Hi,

I don't understand how this quote is made. Can you help?

"For we are God's [work of art], Paul told the Ephesians (2:10), ...

The Bible verse Ephesian 2:10 in my New International Version doesn't exactly say like the one in quotes. Sure, Paul told the Ephesians and it didn't say "Ephesian 2:10" and it just is written 2:10 in parentheses. How does this kind of quotes work?

Different versions of the Bible may differ substantially because all the English versions are translations, and the translators don't always agree on how to render the original Greek or Hebrew into English. The reason your quote has just (2:10) is that the sentence identifies the the quote as coming from the book of Ephesians so repeating it in the parentheses isn't necessary.
