This morning , I did an online exercise on direct and indirect speech and I got 7 out of 10. A few of my sentences were marked incorrect, but I don't understand why. Would you kindly tell me why the conversion in the following sentences is wrong?
Turn into reported speech:
- "I have done my homework." - Tom said that he had done his homework. (x)
Turn into direct speech. - My friend said that he was going skiing at the weekend. - My friend said, "I am going skiing at the weekend." (x)
Turn the following question into reported speech. - "What's the time?" - Mary asked Tom what time it was. (x)
Choose the right option: - He didn't <say or tell> why he was late. (I choose "tell", but I don't know why they marked it wrong.)
Thank you.
