'Direct Address' with Multiple People

I think #1 is correct below because we technically need the comma after 'Thanks'. Am I correct?


(1) Thanks, Mike, Amy, Lou, Steve and Anwar for your help with the project.


(2) Thanks Mike, Amy, Lou, Steve and Anwar for your help with the project.

Incidentally, I prefer the serial comma: it is an important part of my life.

I agree with AG that the comma after 'thanks' is correct, but i had the fleeting impression that the word was a name. I'd avoid this by writing "Thank you, Mike, etc" or "My thanks to Mike, etc",
