Tackling Dire Need for Approval

Hi,
what does generally this chapter title indicate ?

I don't know if Dire Need for Approval means negative things, but if so, tackle meas to attack, imo.

I think that means how to deal with your desire to be approved by people. The author indicates too much desire of this kind is what we need to tackle.
