Diplomat vs. ambassador

Dear all,
I would like to know the difference between diplomat and ambassador. I have a friend who is from Malaysia and is here to be in charge of visa affiars of her country. Is she a diplomat or an ambassador? Thank you very much!

She is not an ambassador the person appointed by a government to represent that government to another (specific) government. It is an official position.

If she were the ambassador to your country, I think she would have mentionged that. It's a big deal. So is her job but not nearly as much. Each country
