Diners meaning

Hi,

I'm currently studying english with a Magoosh app and I couldn't understand the meaning of the word "diners" in the next sentence: The chef was careful to tell the amateur diners that beef was complementary with wine. Does it mean chefs, the people eating, or the dining place?
