Diffrence between "Hold On" & "Wait"

Hi,

May you tell me where should I use "Hold on" and where "Wait" ?

When I watch some movies on TV sometimes I heard that some1 said "Wait!" and some1 said "Hold on"

Thanks for helping.

Hi, 'Hold on' is more casual. It also often suggests that the wait will not be long. With both these phrases, it's usually a good idea to add at least 'please'.
