Could anyone help me with this sentence? Is it correct? Could you improve it somehow? Kindly please.

The basic training for trotters being prepared for harness racing is introduced at their early age for the purpose of reinforcing the aerobic capacity of the body, strengthening the limbs and biomotor abilities, as well as to improve general fitness of the future athletes.

The word 'athlete' means a person, not a horse.

What about putting 'a horse' before the 'athlete'. Would be OK like that?

Hi,

That sounds awkward. Perhaps you could use the word 'racehorse'. Or why not just say ' . . . to improve their general fitness.'?
