Difficulties in pronunciation

I have some difficulties when pronouncing the "rd" sound. I pronounce that sound like "rk".
For example:
"word" and "work"

I am also confused whether I need pronounce the "d" sound at the end of the word because I rarely hear (or I cant hear) the American say "d" at the end (sometimes it sounds like "t")
Ex: word, bird, or loved.

Any tips?

Yes, you need to pronounce the final "d" of word. Otherwise you are saying were.

To prevent the "k" sound when saying "-rd," place the tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth.

Ann Cook said that the difference between *** and GOT is just a difference in the way the vowel is pronounced. Longer and on two steps in ***, shorter and on a single step in GOT. You don't hear the D or the T.

However, I found out that's not always true. The extent to which a final consonant is released or voiced varies a great deal, I believe. Ann Cook tells you not to release final T

In my opinion, Ann Cook is wrong. We do indeed release and aspirate, thank goodness! (Most of us anyways.)
Love to all!
P.S. No bull.
