Difficult question

Hi, I've been trying to learn English seriously. Sometimes, I ask strange questions out of curiosity. For example: The company is successful to secure the contract.

Could you tell me why the sentence is wrong? Instead, we have to say: The company is successful in securing the contract. Thank you, this is a helpful forum.

Hey I don't know a specific rule to this issue but when you say" The company is successful" and you stop. " Eg. "Bekham is a good player in football" but we can't say "Bekham is a good player to football" You see what I mean?

  • "To" makes no sense in the statement so we need to use "in" instead.

Hey

I don't know a specific rule to this issue but when you say" The company is successful" and you stop. Then your friend will ask you "In what ?" not "To what?"

Eg. "Bekham is a good player in football" but we can't say "Bekham is a good player to football"

You see what I mean? "To" makes no sense in the statement so we need to use "in" instead.
