(1) Just remember that a "modifier" is a word that

"modifies" (adds more meaning to another word).

(a) I eat.

I eat SLOWLY.

slowly = adverb that modifies "eat." Tells how I eat.

So we can say that "slowly" is an adverb modifier of "eat."

If you do not eat SLOWLY, then how do you eat?

I eat fast/quickly.

(b) Mona is a girl.

Let's add a word to describe "girl."

Mona is a beautiful girl.

"beautiful" is an adjective that modifies (adds to the meaning of)

"girl." So we call "beautiful" an adjective modifier of "girl."
