Different words to use

Hi. Please help me with the right words for the blanks in the example sentences below, instead of the ones in parentheses. I don't think using the pairs, "rode" and "rides" and "slided down" and "water slides," is a good idea. Let's say you were in an amusement park that had, among other things, various rides and some water slides.

Today, I ___ (rode) exciting rides and ____ (slided down) the water slides.

How about this example sentence? Let's say you were in a playground. I don't think the example sentence below correctly describes the activity of one moving back and forth in a swing while seating on the seat , but I can't come up with the right sentence to describe it. Please help.

Today, I ___ (swung) a swing.

Anonymous don't think using the pairs, "rode" and "rides" and "slided down" and "water slides," is a good idea. No, because 'slided' is not correct English. But in themselves, there is no necessity to avoid the same root; in many cases, it is natural: T oday, I rode on some exciting rides and slid down the water slides.
