Different ways to call a product.

As we all know, product can be defined as "something produced by human or mechanical effort or by a natural process". But I would like to ask if the word "product" in different states should be called in a different way. For example, if a something is produced by unit, it can be called as a product; if something is produced in powder state, like chemicals, it should be called material, etc. My questions are as follows:1.In our lanuage, Chinese, product can be used to describe every type of things that are produced by human or machines, but how many different ways, for the English language, can "product" be called according to the different matter states (solid, powder, liquid and gas etc) . 2. Is there any overlap between them for what they are called? Thanks.
