Different way of saying the same thing?

Hi. Please tell me which is correct for each set. 1 and 2 are one set and 3 and 4 are another set. I think both are correct for each set. If they are both correct for each set, are there any differences?

1. Her name is longer than his.
2. Her name is longer than that of his.
3. Her name is longer than John Doe's.
4. Her name is longer than that of John Doe.
