different pronunciations for THE before consonant and vowel

00I just came to know that there are two different pronunciations for 01i01b01u00the02u02b02i00 depending upon whether 01i01b01u00the02u02b02i00 comes before consonant or vowel. 01b01i01u00the02u02i02b00 will sound like 01b00dee02b00 when it is followed by vowel and it will sound like 01b00daa02b00 when it is followed by consonant. 01b00Right?02b0-

Good question.

Yes there are two different ways to pronounce 'the':

stressed th'ee; unstressed before a consonant th'uh; unstressed before a vowel th'ee.

At the age of 7, in second grade, I learned this rule.

The (pronounced as "thee") is used before a vowel or a vowel sound: thee apple, thee orchestra, thee NFL (NFL stands for National Fooball League), but since the N is pronounced as "en" this is a vowel sound. So it's thee NFL. But "thuh" National Football League.
