Anyhow, that's not correct re "NY". In "NY" it's /'Olb@ni/, "ALL-buh-nee" or, to you non-rhotic Right/Underpondians, "ALL-ber-nee". That's NYCE-and-environs English. Upstate? You'd think it'd be the same, but I'm almost certain I once heard someone fro

That's the way I learned it. I'm not sure when I switched from /&l/ to /Ol/.

There's a New Albany in Southern Indiana, not far from Louisville, Ken-Tuck-Ee. It is home to Jamey Aebersold among others. Coop might know how to pronounce it; I don't.

Most Hoosiers say "New All-ban-ee". Some, that have more southern roots, say "Nallbanee".
