Different levels of light sensing

John and Sam live in the same room that has a curtain on either side of the window, each of them occupying one side of the room, which receives light in the morning through an uncurtained window. However, even when John's own side is kept dark by drawing the curtain, John still finds the light received by Sam's side is disturbing to his (John's) sleep, so John demands that in the night even Sam's curtain should be drawn so as to block out the sunlight in the morning. So are my sentences correct?

-People have different levels of light sensing.
-People wake up by different levels of brightness.
