Differene between a compound word and a phrase

Is the only differene between a compound word and a phrase that in a compound word the two words are together and in a phrase they are seperate?

Also is there such a compound word that has more than two words in English?

Thank you, well I mean big house is a phrase and big and house are seperate from eachother and then a compound word is for example jackass and jack and *** are together

What about jack-in-the-box? Do hyphens count?
