Difference “what about” “how about”

What is the difference in usage and syntax?
I have read quite a few articles on the subject but none the wiser.
Some say “what about” goes with noun while “how about” verb and the latter only can take a whole independent clause.
Can we say “what about going there” as well as “how about going there” for the same meaning?
Whatever it is, could I have some legitimate examples each please? Thanks!
