Hi! I am a beginner of English.I'd like to know the difference between person and individual.I read some dictionaries, but it was too difficult to understand this.Could you help me?

Sometimes the words are interchangeable.

"Individual" is more formal, impersonal and abstract than "person." It is used in legal, scientific and political contexts and sometimes in news stories.

He is the person that the police were looking for.
He is the individual that the police were looking for.

An individual's private information must be protected.
A person's private information must be protected.

Individual is used to mean to one unique person. Individual is also used as an adjective.

The Czech income tax rate for an individual's income in 2010 is flat, a 15% rate.
Each design can be customized to meet an individual's ideas or needs.

Person is far more common (as a noun) than "individual." It is more casual.
