Difference in "of" and "for"?

When looking at the following:

"The love of..."
"The love for..."

What's the difference between the two? I'm confused.
Some examples would definitely help!

Thanks in advance.

for example:

His love of money.
His love for money.

Is there a difference in meaning between the two?
If they mean the same, can "of" and "for" be used to mean different things?

thanks.

In your money examples, I see no difference. The two prepositions can of course mean different things:

of course
for sure
United States of America
bound for glory

etc.
